A June 12 US export-control directive — triggered by an Amazon-reported cyber jailbreak — required restricting foreign nationals' access. No real-time nationality check exists, so Anthropic suspended access for all users worldwide until Commerce lifted the controls on June 30.
Is Fable 5 free?
No. Pro/Max/Team plans include it at 50% of weekly limits through July 7, then it moves to usage credits. The Free plan doesn't get it. API pricing is $10/$50 per MTok as before.
Why does my request get handed to Opus 4.8?
The new safety classifier that shipped with the return blocks the reported jailbreak technique in >99% of cases, but its deliberately expanded margin false-positives on some routine coding and debugging — and in some flows the task is handed to Opus 4.8 with a notification. That's the classifier, not an outage.
Is Mythos 5 available?
US organizations only, since June 26. Broader domestic and international access is planned under Project Glasswing.
